2022 was a difficult year with the crypto economy being weak, but the GEMS Esports 3.0 Platform has never been stronger. We’re ending the year with multiple business milestones and lots of significant development breakthroughs. We have established over 80 partnerships across the blockchain solution, Web3 game publishers, and Esports associations and federations. GEMS has also collaborated with some of the biggest brands in the world to organize tournaments throughout the year. GEMSters, let us walk you through 2022!

Partnerships and Tournaments

We started off strong in January when we became a member of the Blockchain Game Alliance, joining industry giants like Polygon, The Sandbox, and Ubisoft. It allowed GEMS to transform the gaming world with blockchain technology and connect with other like-minded individuals to bring blockchain gaming to the next level.

GEMS has kept the ball rolling with back-to-back crossover AMAs in 2022 with our partners from Metavisa, FOTA, Blocksports, Tank Battle, Yellow University, and Aether Games. We also held some AMAs with Cross the Ages, Skyark, Dream Quest, SO-COL, IQ Protocol, and Big Time. We have arranged over 60 AMAs this year and continue to introduce ourselves and our partners to a wider audience.

Our most significant tournament breakthroughs happened in the last quarter of the year. In late September, GEMS became the first Esports 3.0 Platform to contract with NetEase Esports for the NARAKA: BLADEPOINT SEA Open. The tournament attracted over 200 teams across SEA, from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, to the Philippines. The finals competition obtained over 520,000 views within its first week.

After the previous success with NetEase, we added on to our accomplishments with more national tournaments with major global partners. We announced a partnership between the GEMS Esports 3.0 Platform and Empower for an online DOTA 2 Duel Tournament in Singapore and just this month hosted the HUTECH AOV tournament in Vietnam with a sponsorship from Pepsi.

The DOTA 2 tournament was coupled with an offline marketing thrust of a pop-up merchandise store located in Funan Mall, Singapore. The pop-up store was supported by GEMS and Secretlabs, which featured an exclusive showcase of TI11 jerseys and merchandise from top-tier Esports teams such as Alliance, BOOM Esports, Talon Esports, Team Aster, and TSM FTX, allowing GEMS continue to spread our brand awareness in the Esports community.

To practice our mission of “Bridging Web2 into Web3 though Esports”, GEMS also organized massively successful national PUBG Mobile Tournament tours in Vietnam, Thailand and SIngapore. These attracted more than 150 teams with over 600 Esports players. We kicked off the first PUBG Mobile Tournament in Vietnam, taking place in Say Coffe. There were five team matches to determine the winner of the grand prize worth 5 million VND.

GEMS also rented an entire floor in Zouk during the “Singapore Web3 and Metaverse Week 2022” for the second PUBG tournament. It went extremely well, with live commentators and gamers who showed an enthusiastic response and strong support for the event.

The tournament tours wrapped up at the Play-2-Earn Expo in Thailand, where over 100 teams had already gone through the online qualifier rounds before the finals. The final round was streamed on Binance Live, which peaked at 4k views, giving the tours a perfect end.

Events Attended

As travel restrictions eased up and opened the opportunity to travel and connect with colleagues in the industry, GEMS’ head of partnership attended several global events and continuously built connections. In 2022, Our CEO Andy Koh has attended numerous major events and given speeches to share his thoughts and insight of the industry, including Thailand Crypto Expo, one of the biggest crypto event in Thailand. He was also in attendance at the ADAPT International Convention 2022, where he joined Virtualtech Frontier and PRAKTIKA Architects.

At Play-2-Earn Expo Asia, the top tier industrial event allowed GEMS to connect with Binance, Crypto.com, Razer Inc., Animoca Brands, OKX, Gala, Blockchain Founders Fund, and Immutable.

Other events we attended also include the Singapore Blockchain Week, TOKEN2049, and Binance Live’s Blocklike GameFi Panel.

GEMS is committed to live out our vision and mission and show them to the world. We made our appearance in some of the biggest blockchain events and took the opportunity to introduce our NFT rental system that attracts more conventional gamers to GameFi.

We were the Grand Sponsor of Singapore Blockchain Week, where the GEMS co-founders discussed differentiating Web2 and Web3, urged companies and investors to join the development of a shared economy, and discussed the inclusive world of Web3 and the metaverse.

GEMS also had the opportunity to interact with FOTA CEO, Grey Trinh, and regional head of MENA, Binance, Richard Teng, after the Singapore Blockchain Week 2022 event.

GEMS was at the Play-2-Earn Expo, held at the W Bangkok Hotel. We hosted a booth and shared the GEMS NFT Marketplace demo and the potential of its NFT rental system. GEMS also engaged with several Web2 and Web3 brands, including Binance Director of Corporate Development Adrian Ho, crypto.com investment partner Capital Jon Russell, Head of Razer Blockchain Lawrence Lin, and Animoca Brands’ resident entrepreneur Rich Robinson.

We wrapped up 2022 as a proud community partner at the recently held #Web3Matching, the first offline investor-startup speed-dating event where startup founders can meet senior representatives from top VCs in a curated 1:1. The event was hosted by Amazon Web Services and Binance, powered by Kyros Ventures.

GEMS Public Exposure Highlighted

We also found ourselves on the big screen and featured in several publications as the year progressed. GEMS took over the Hong Kong streets with its bright lights and bold colors. Our ad was the main attraction at the SOGO shopping mall’s facade. Have a look here.

GEMS continued to receive coverage from leading media publications including Yahoo Finance where were part of its coverage on “Singapore Blockchain Week, One of Asia’s Largest Blockchain Events”. GEMS was also featured in GlobeNewswire, featuring our partnership with Alpha Metaverse, a technology company that focuses on emerging markets in esports, mobile gaming, ecommerce, blockchain, and high growth opportunities.

Community Events and Developments

We held our first GEMS Campaign in March, designed to reward our GEMSters with prizes worth over 700 USDT.

Another highlight from that month was our first ever CEO Night, held last March 30. Our CEO, Mr. Andy Koh shared his experience in the industry and talked about what our supporters can expect from GEMS. It was such an amazing night brimming with support from our GEMSters. If you want to review the highlights of that, watch the recap here.

As an Easter surprise, we also released the TGGEMS Match as another way to give a chance to our community members to win prizes and whitelist allocations.

With our effort, the development of the GEMS Tournament Platform has gone on speedily. We have also exceeded 1,000 users this December, with a 100% growth rate rewarding the hard work that was put into its development. The platform also debuted its new user interface, continuing our continuous efforts to improve gamer experience.

Our community continued to increase, and currently, we have over 250K followers across Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, Telegram, and Instagram. We also acquired over 7.8M Impressions and 150k likes and retweets on our social media platforms in 2022.

We are looking forward to more opportunities to engage with and give back to our community in the coming year. We are excited for what we have in store for everyone, and thrilled to imagine what else will come next for us and our community. Let’s enter the new year together, GEMSters!
